It has been two decades since this little three antennaed creature first showed up in my sketch book. He had a name - for no particular reason, I called him Taraniki - but I never knew what his story was. Nevertheless, I kept drawing him. I always seemed to be drawing him entering mysterious temples, wandering in the desert, or exploring snowy climes. He was always questing.

When I decided to participate in a drawing challenge in late 2019, I brought Taraniki along. I figured illustrating his adventures would be a good way to figure out his story.

A story of sorts showed up: unsurprisingly, he’s entering temples, wandering the desert and exploring snowy climes.on collection.

More than that, I haven’t discovered much about him. He’s still questing, still exploring. Still looking for home, I think.

I did discover that I still enjoy drawing him. But I guess that much was obvious.
